No.3 May - Flat pack kits
Flat Pack kits..... How difficult are they anyway?
The question most often asked about flatpack kits is "how difficult is it to put together?". Well, here are a few answers that will hopefully dispel any fears or misapprehensions about constructing flatpack kits. Firstly in any job if one has the right tools the job is already easier. The right tools for the right job saves time and effort. One often sees people struggling with a screw because they are too lazy to get the correct screwdriver to fit.
Secondly, planning a strategy or following instructions is the way to go, This will reduce the time taken to complete the task by not having to backtrack or redo anything. Don't just do whatever comes to mind first. Short cuts inevitably do not work successfully.
Thirdly,be a tidy worker. Put the tools where you can find them again. A nail bag or tool belt is a great help to have the common tools on your person at any time. There is nothing worse than trying to finish the job and you cannot find the drill/screwgun because it was left on the floor and somebody put a cabinet on top of it, or you are trying to hold up a cabinet and need the drill and it is just 150mm out of reach. Be tidy!. Do not leave screws lying around to be stood on damaging materials or the floor. Having taken heed of the 3 little secrets, the job is already significantly easier and construction will be a mere fraction of the whole task. One does not have to be an accomplished tradesperson, but it certainly does help to be a practical person with some experience in handling a drill, screwgun, screwdriver, tape measure, and hammer. If you have never handled any of these tools or have no clue as to what this article is about then - GET A TRADESPERSON IMMEDIATELY TO ASSEMBLE AND INSTALL YOU KIT. Your Smartpack distributor can organise a competent installer to handle you Smartpack kit for an extra charge.
Fourthly, having a "sidekick" or a person to assist, hold, and discuss the issues with will make the task not only easier but extremely enjoyable and rewarding. However it is not difficult to do the task alone. The Smartpack cabinets are designed for easy assembly by one person having been pre-drilled and fits together with cam and dowel fittings and expandable knock in adjustable legs with clip on kickboard and clip on hinges.Smartpack has made a major effort to source benchtop joiners which are very easily tightened with a screwgun and has a propriety jig for quickly fitting handles to the doors. In fact Smartpack is the smartest and easiest flatpack or cabinet assembly system you will find. The assembly of the cabinets should take 10 to 15 minutes to assemble for most cabinets. The installation of the cabinets is easy following the installation instructions supplied. and if you get stuck at any point the Smartpack help desk or local distributor will be happy to advise you on the next step. Please have a look at the assembly movie now to see just how simple assembly of the flat pack cabinet really is!
TO SUMMARISE: 1. Have the right tools for the job. 2. Have a plan of action in mind. 3. Be tidy in you work and work area. 4. Having somebody to assist makes the job easier and more rewarding and enjoyable. The Smart team hopes you have an enjoyable and rewarding experience assembling your kitchen, laundry, home office workshop or home storage system. Please email your photos and comments to us. We would like to share your experience.
